Welcome to CIPE Leading Practices!

This knowledge base features innovative and effective practices in democratic and market reform. In 2011, CIPE launched the Leading Practices Contest to recognize good practice among private sector organizations in the field of democratic and market reform. CIPE is sharing this collection of leading practices to promote international benchmarking and the replication of effective ideas.

What is a leading practice?

A leading practice is an innovative method or process with the potential to significantly improve the performance of a private sector reform initiative. The practice may influence decision making, increase capacity, or communicate the need for reform. The practices available on this site were submitted by participating organizations, namely current and previous CIPE partners. CIPE does not necessarily endorse any specific practice.

About CIPE

The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include anti-corruption, advocacy, business associations, corporate governance, democratic governance, access to information, the informal sector and property rights, and women and youth. CIPE programs are supported by the National Endowment for Democracy, the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State, the Middle East Partnership Initiative, and the U.S. Embassy in Iraq Office for Private Sector Development.
